Crosby needs some Cheese with his Whine!
I just about died laughing when I saw this letter from Crosby in the RC Times this week, he is just adding more votes to the landslide against him in the last election--can he not see--we people from Coopertown were not hoodwinked we wanted him out!!!!
Good traffic programs can save lives In the Robertson County Times issue of Jan. 20, an article appeared on the front page headlining “More Tickets bring Lower Accident Rates”. First of all, Let me say that I find this article to be forthcoming and with the highest degree of good news reporting. I hope that Police Chief Wilhoit, Springfield City Manager Paul Nutting, and mayor Billy Paul Carneal will not soon be reading on the front pages of the Times “They Have Got to Go”-they are now operating a “speed trap.” Dist. Atty. General John Carney and Asst. Dist. Atty. Dent Morris could soon be proclaiming the same things they accused me of - I can see it now. Charge No. 1- Targeting illegal “immigrants”, Charge No. 2- Targeting military personnel (driving 90 mph) (drunk?), Charge No. 3- Targeting Minorities (?), Charge No. 4- Racial profiling (?), Charge No. 5-Enforcing City ordinances such as littering of beer cans and whisky bottles, Charge No. 6-Enforcement of City codes (improper signs), and Charge No. 7-Sweating and Stinking-caused by road work and replacement of old culverts in hot weather. If any of the citizens of Springfield, or any citizen of the State of Tennessee, or any citizen of the United States, or any illegal immigrant, wants to bring a charge against good law enforcement simply call the District Attorney’s office. I hope there is not an elected public official such as I had, Alderman Peggy Ruth, that will go the TBI and make false accusations about buying police cars illegally. (She opened the bids herself in March 2005 and two months later made her report to the TBI. The TBI did not investigate her claims.) Mayor Carneal, I hope you do not have anyone who ran against you in the prior election that will start pushing the “speed trap” issue, who will try to use it against you in the next election such as Sam Childs used against me. I assure you the citizens will fall for it. Then Springfield will be as Coopertown is now with very little law enforcement or protection. If this should happen, please give me a call. I know a good attorney in Clarksville, Tim Harvey Esq., which will be glad to successfully represent you against all false witnesses. The judge will not find any evidence against you, even though he will believe what was said. Remember, a good traffic program saves lives, saves property, keeps DUI drivers off our roads and removes drugs from our streets. It worked in Coopertown while I was mayor. Keep up the good work Chief Wilhoit and may God bless you and all that you undertake to do for your citizens. Danny J. Crosby Coopertown

The article was not considered newsworthy enough I guess. It states that the Springfield police department had an alarming increase in accidents. They purchased mapping software to determine accident hotspots and increased traffic enforcement in those areas. The increased enforcement in targeted areas led to a drop in accidents. They are to be commended for this--it is very good police enforcement.
It should be noted that this targeting was in no way the "targeting" of the Coopertown police department under Mr. Crosby.
Coopertown police are now targeting heavy accident areas in their enforcement which, even though the department is much reduced, has kept the accident rate in Coopertown down.
In other words, the Coopertown police are doing an excellent job with the resources they have to keep the accident rate low without inflaming citizens. What a concept!

Did you read those letters yesterday? I live on Battle Creek myself and I will tell you that Mayor Childs did not salt in front of his house after any snow storm. Cody Norrod had better check his facts he hears before he prints them for somebody!
Danny's tribe all seem to want the current Mayor to do road work. That did not work before why--because he did not give of himself--he just sued the city and cost us 20000 after he left. Now he seems to be running for alderman--I personally would rather have a limp horse!
