 Dagnammit More Crosby supporters Crap
Lack of police makes resident scared I work at one of the convenience stores at Highway 49 and I-24 in Coopertown. I am complaining about the recent decision made by the Mayor and Board of Alderman to reduce the Coopertown Police Department. That is insane. It was bad enough to have no police protection from 11 p.m. to 7 a.m. Now we have no protection from 3 p.m. until 7 a.m. the next morning. We were told that the Robertson County Sheriff’s Department would be handling the calls. The last call that I put into the Sheriff’s Department took them 45 minutes to respond. It has been four or five weeks now since I have seen a Robertson County officer in the store or to even ride through the parking lot. What a joke! We have gone form great police protection- to nothing. I guess Mayor Sam Childs’ wife must feel real safe at night knowing this is not a “police state” as Sam Childs personal Web site “Coopertown News” stated prior to his election. Mayor Childs, Vice Mayor Peggy Ruth and Alderman Linda Lee have not been honest about the past administration and now it is evident. The people who elected them are now complaining and have realized that all of their election promises were nothing but propaganda. As a woman who has to work for a living I feel very unsafe at work nightly because of their election promises that were nothing but hostile lies against Mayor Crosby and his administration. Road conditions deteriorated with new mayor I am writing this letter to complain about several things I have personally seen in Coopertown. It was interesting to see the “road department” on McMahon Hollow and Battle Creek Roads grading the ditches soon after the election of Sam Childs last year. In just a few days these roads went from nice, perfected work to piles of dirt pushed into the ditches so that water runs into the surrounding areas and where there is now a serious drop-off from the pavement. It is very evident that whoever did this work did not know what they were doing. Furthermore, in many places the mowing looked like “plowing” along the edges of the roads. Beer bottles and cans, whisky bottles and general trash over the whole city now exists. Is it not against the law to drink and drive and litter in Coopertown anymore? Also, the speed limit on Battle Creek is 30 miles per hour. On several occasions I personally have seen Mayor Sam Childs on this road driving way above the posted speed limits in his little white car. Does the speed limit that I have to drive not apply to Mayor Sam Childs? Also, those of us on Battle Creek Road are not asking police officers to ride bicycles as Mayor Childs promised those in Oak Point. I wonder if this promise has been kept. I have not seen Mayor Childs on his tractor mowing or putting in culverts, or weed eating, or removing trees that are in the right of ways. Maybe before the next election the residents of Coopertown that live in the subdivisions will show the residents who live on the back roads the evidence before they vote again. Cody Norrod

Remove these two quotes from the previous two letters and what you have left is a strong argument for a property tax. Be careful what you ask for. The voters have eliminated your first choice.
